Speeches of Shri Datta Swami In First World Parliament on Spirituality Part-14

90) Self-Confidence:-

Self-confidence has certain limits since the power of self also is limited. Any human being can lift a stone having a certain range of weight. A human being having lowest limit of self-confidence (under-confidence) can lift the stone having lowest limit of weight range. By improving self-confidence, the human being can lift the stone having highest limit of weight range. This is the maximum limit of self-confidence. Hence, the under-confidence can be improved to the highest limit of self-confidence so that the human being can be improved within this normal range. But, no human being can improve its confidence beyond the highest possible limit of normal range to reach far higher level in which it can lift a hill. If one thinks that he can reach such far higher level to lift the hill, that is called as over-confidence. Some say that you must have confidence on God so that with it you can achieve anything. This is also wrong because you can achieve anything if God has confidence on you. If a politician has confidence on the public, based on it, he will not win the election. He wins the election if the public (voters) has confidence in him! Prahlaada could resist all punishments given to him due to the grace of God on him and not due to his confidence on God. The grace of God appeared on him due to his devotion and not due to his confidence on Him! Hence, one should not be misled by such false impressions created by false preachers.

91) Monism and Dualism in Human Incarnation:-

The human being-component of the human incarnation is also normal like any other human being. The human being was selected by God to become human incarnation and such human being didn’t become human incarnation by its will and its effort. No human being can become unimaginable God since any human being is imaginable only. The unimaginable God can become imaginable human being due to His unimaginable power. Hence, the human incarnation is said to be descended God (Avataara) and not ascended human being (Uttaara). Therefore, the human being component of human incarnation shall always think that it is the servant of God and shall not think that it is God. If this is the fate of human being component of human incarnation, what shall the state of an ordinary human being thinking that it is God due to false Monism! As long as the human being component remains in dualism feeling that it is not God, but, servant of God, so long the human incarnation continues. If the human being-component thinks that it is God, God will quit and the human incarnation becomes ordinary human being. Parashurama thought that he was God and hence, he became ordinary human being to be insulted by Rama. Rama remained as human incarnation throughout his life (Puurna Avataara) since he (human being-component) always thought that he is an ordinary human being or servant of God only (Aatmaanam maanusham manye).

In reverse, the devotees worshiping human incarnation must feel that the human incarnation is God and not the ordinary human being. Then only, they are benefited. If they doubt the human incarnation as ordinary human being, they are lost in their spiritual progress. Hence, the human being- component in incarnation must remain in dualism to protect his monism with God. The devotee must remain in monism thinking that the human being-component in the incarnation is God. In order to protect the faith of devotee, the human being-component shall remain silent externally, but, internally, must be in dualism without being misled by the praise of devotees that it is God.

Krishna told that He is God in the Gita. Jesus told that He is truth and light (God). Such occasions are very rare in which the Datta or Father of heaven present in human incarnation speaks directly to such devotees, who can absorb such concept without trace of ego and jealousy.

92) Authority of the Veda:-

Some conservatives of Hinduism say that they will follow only whatever is said in the Veda since it is the scripture revealed by God to sages. Since the author is God, the Veda is Apaurusheya (human being is not the author). Buddha said that the Veda is Paurusheya (human being is the author). Both are correct versions since God is the actual author whereas the sage appears to be author of each part (Suuktam) of the Veda. God (Bhagavaan) said the Gita through Krishna and Krishna spoke it through His mouth as anybody can see the scene. Insertions and deletions are almost impossible since the Veda was preserved by recitation from one generation to the other generation due to absence of perfect writing technology. Now, the Veda is printed and doesn’t have the danger of additions and deletions. We agree that the Veda is told by God and additions and deletions are absent in it. We also agree that the Veda is the final authority. But, why should you fear about the analysis of the concepts of the Veda? Since the concept in the Veda is said by God, certainly, it will pass through the test of analysis since God will never say anything, which is not logical. The analysis is essential so that people of other religions also will regard the Veda as authority since the concept of the Veda is perfectly logical. Let other religions feel that we are not taking the Veda as authority simply based on blind belief without analysing it. If the analysis is done and the entire Veda is found to be correct, fear of additions and deletions is also removed. When you are sure that your gold is purest, why to fear for the acid test? Different concepts are built-up by different commentators while the same statement of the Veda (Upanishat) was discussed. We have to do the critical analysis to find out which interpretation is correct. Hence, objecting the analysis of the Veda is not correct in any angle. Even the Gita is the Veda since it is told by God. The same God Krishna, in the end of the Gita, told that Arjuna shall analyse whatever is told in the Gita before taking decision (Vimrushyaitadasheshena…). Even the Veda says that the saying of the Veda shall be analysed before deciding its concept (Vedaanta vijnaana sunishchitaarthaah).

93) Servants of God:-

Servants of God in doing the propagation of true spiritual knowledge are having very good special facility. They will not be disturbed in this world by the punishments of sins. They will not be punished for their sins in the hell. The whole file of the servant of God is kept in cold storage so that the servant will never be disturbed by the implementation of constitution of God. We need not fear that these servants will have time to do fresh sins. Not only this, the propagation of spiritual knowledge may benefit others or not, but, will certainly benefit themselves. During propagation, the spiritual knowledge gets digested more and more in the mind of the servant doing the propagation of spiritual knowledge resulting in reformation of the soul. At this point, all the punishments (present and pending) get cancelled and the file kept in the cold storage goes to the store of condemned files. The file will never be destroyed and comes back again activated if the servant of God violates the reformation.

94) Bonds with God:-

All the bonds are made of love like all the jewels are made of gold. Jewels are different in their designs. The difference between jewels need not be only in the design, but also, in the purity of gold. Similarly, the bonds are different not only in their nature (like father, brother, son, husband, darling etc.,) but also, in the purity of love. The cost of the jewel depends on the purity of gold and the value of the bond depends on the purity of love. If the love is selfless, it is pure gold. If the love is selfish, it is impure gold. The nature of the bond is not important, which depends on the personal taste of the devotee. God gives value to the selfless love existing in the bond and not to the nature of the bond. Let us take the bond as darling of God, which was chosen by sages born as Gopikas. The value of Gopikas is not due to the nature of the bond (darling), which is generally more powerful than the other type of bond (husband and wife). The value of Gopikas in this bond is due to their selfless love to God. When God Krishna suffered with headache and told that the feet-dust of devotees is its medicine, sage Narada requested His eight wives for the feet-dust. The eight wives refused saying that they will go to hell if their feet-dust is put on the forehead of the God. Such love is selfish since they feared for hell, not minding the headache of their husband. When Narada went to Gopikas, they gave their feet-dust at once. Narada told them that they will go to hell for such deed. Gopikas told that they are prepared to go to hell if their darling Krishna is cured from headache. Here, the selfless love of Gopikas is important and not the nature of bond (darling). Gopikas kept the God in the highest place sacrificing all worldly bonds including the three strong bonds (life partner, issues and wealth). The place of Krishna was higher than any worldly bond and not higher than mere bond with their life partners. Sage Narada told in his book ‘Bhakti Sutram’ on devotion that even the impure bond like darling became most holy since the bond is with God and not with a human being (Jaaravaccha, yathaa vraja gopikaanaam). All the holiness lies with God and not with the nature of the bond.

If you feel that the bond with darling alone has real selfless love, it is wrong because the same darling-bond with a prostitute has no real selfless love at all. The same bond with a prostitute has false love with lot of selfishness since the prostitute exhibits lot of false love for selfish benefit (snatching the money from the darling) only. Hence, there is no link between selfless real love and the nature of the bond. Romance exists not only in the darling-bond, but also, in husband-wife bond. When the finger of God Krishna was cut by a sugar cane during eating it, by the will of God for a test, the eight wives ran in all the directions for a piece of cloth to be used for bandage. Draupadi was sitting by the side of her husband in doing ‘Rajasuya Sacrifice’. She immediately ran from her seat and tore her sari for the piece of cloth required for the bandage. She knows that she should not move from her seat and knows that if sari is torn at that time, she will lose all her wealth. In fact, she lost all her wealth immediately in the gambling with Kauravas. She did not mind all this before her love to Krishna as brother. The wives, having romantic bond with Krishna, were defeated by the sister lacking romance. Hence, romance is not the indication of selfless love.

The sages saw God Rama with stunning beauty and developed romantic feeling in their hearts. Since homosex is blind injustice and heterosex is justified being a divine program for the sake of extending the humanity, the sages did not like to embrace Rama straight with their male bodies with romantic feeling. If the feeling is not romantic, they can embrace straight like Rama embraced by Lakshmana or Hanuman. Since their feeling was romantic, they liked to embrace Rama by becoming females through their miraculous power. The main point here focused is that the value of the bond of Gopikas with God is due to their selfless love and not due to greater romantic darling-bond than romantic life partner-bond (generally, it is found that the darling supersedes the life partner even though both have common romantic bond). The selfless love shown by the sister, Draupadi, surpassed the romantic life partner-bond with the eight wives. Hence, the conclusion is that the selfless love present in a bond is responsible to please God and not the nature of the bond. For such selfless love shown by sister, God Krishna sacrificed even His family to be destroyed by the curse of Gandhari since Krishna got Kauravas killed for the satisfaction of His sister.

95) Spirituality, Religion and Culture:-

If spirituality is the human alive body, religion is the shirt on it touching the body and culture is the overcoat present on the shirt without touching the body. Spirituality is connected to religion, but, not connected to the culture. Culture comes from religion, but, gets separated from religion in due course of time. Wearing Punjabi dress (culture) came from the Punjabi religion, but, in due course of time, people of all religions started wearing Punjabi dress. Nobody thinks about Shri Guru Govind Singh, who established the Sikh religion in Punjab and studying His philosophy doesn’t come into the mind of any person wearing the Punjabi dress. A politician is always connected to the culture to collect the votes from a region following certain culture. The politician also wears the same dress of that region for votes. He will not touch the religion, which is behind that culture fearing the loss of votes from other religions of that region! He will never bother about the spirituality which is the basis of that religion from which that culture came out. Spirituality opposes his actions like giving money for vote etc. Hence, culture has no place in religion and in its spirituality.

Devotees of God Datta sing addressing Him as ‘Digambara Datta’. This word means externally naked without clothes and such meaning is taken by ignorant devotees only. Digambara means naked and this means that Datta, the basic spirituality (alive body), is without religion (shirt) and culture (Overcoat). If you want to see Datta in His basic original form, the basic universal spirituality, you must cross the culture and religion. Datta simply means the first energetic form created by the unimaginable God for His total and permanent merge so that the formless unimaginable God will be given to the future souls through a form. The confined meaning of the word Datta is simply ‘given’ and has nothing to do with any religion or any culture. Datta represents the basic spiritual knowledge present in every religion expressed by its specific culture. The aim of this entire spiritual knowledge is to project such basic spiritual knowledge underlying in every religion so that the differences between world religions can be removed forever by which all people in the world can live as one family having one God, Datta or Father of heaven as called by Western Religions.
