(Poem of Lord Shri Krishna)

Dviteeya Dalam — Second Leaf

1)     Gopeepeenapayodharaamshukamapaakarshanmahaamohitam,

Mohachhedakaram prabodhavachanaih paarthasya tattvaantimaih,

Krishnam sarvatamopahaari jagataam leelaachamatkaarakam,

Jyotih kimchidaharnisham manasi nah kreedaaparam vartate.

[A special light, which plays with astonishing activities, which drags the cloths covering the chests of Gopikas due to over fascination, yet, destroying the fascination of Arjuna by the climax concepts of spiritual knowledge through preaching and which is black but removing all the black ignorance of the world, is existing in our minds. (God exhibits such plays in order to test the firmness of faith of devotees in Him and also to repel the undeserving devotees from approaching Him. If you deeply analyse such plays, they are also not violations of justice but, testing the sages born as Gopikas regarding their strength of identification of God and regarding their strength of worldly bonds.)]

2)   “Baddhvaa tvaam hanmi sheelachyuta! Nanu kimiyam vruttiraaryasya loke,

Bhaktivyaajena Gopyaa kitava! ratiparah kimtvamacchassa devah?”,

Aakshiptam rukminaivam gunayavinkayaachaaditam praaptumaaptaih,

Brahmajnaih khelanastham shishubhirakalitam vastu nah paatu kimchit.

[“Oh characterless fellow! I will catch and kill You. Is this deed done by You can be done by gentlemen? You have cheated Gopikas in the name of devotion. Oh cunny fellow! Are You the real God?” – like this condemned by Rukmi (brother of Rukmini), covered by the three qualities and in disguise, playing with the approaching sages and not seen by ignorant childish souls is one inexplicable special item that is expected to protect us.]

3)   Jaarastvam baalyachorastvamiti janapura saatvateesuununoktam,

Puujyastvam Bramhashuddham tvamiti muniganaireva jegeeyamaanah,

Karnaabhyaamekavaaram dvayamapi radanajyotsnayaalankrutoshthah,

Shrunvan yajnocchapeethasthitiravatu sa vah kopi kaamaavataarah.

[Let an incarnation (Krishna) of cupid with inexplicable smartness sitting on the highest throne of Rajasuuya sacrifice performed by Dharmaraja protect all of you, the lips of which are decorated by the moonlight like smile while hearing before all the public by both ears simultaneously the scolding of the son of Saatvatee (Shishupaala) saying “You are characterless fellow. You are thief from childhood” and the praise done by sages singing “You are the only God to be worshipped and You are the ultimate pure God”.]

4)   Aastaamasya dashaavataaravalayo dikchakrakalpo manah,

Tasminneva nivishtamuurdhvagagane Naaraayanah keshavah,

Shrinaadho Madhusuudhano Muraripuschakreeti yo geeyate,

Vishnornaamabhireka eva purushah puurnah sharatchandramaah.

[Let there be ten incarnations of God like the ten sides on the earth. The above side is in higher level than any other side, which is this Lord Krishna in Whom only, My mind is absorbed, Who is like the full moon of the moon season and Who alone is the purusha sung by all the names of God Vishnu like Narayana, Keshava, Shri Naadha, Madhusudhana, Muraripu, Chakree etc.]

5)   Lubdhaagresarasaarvabhauma! Kimidam? Laajaan dvijaannirdhanaat,

Mitraadaaharase dadaasi na punarnishkamcha Lakshmeepate!,

Haa Swaamin! Kiyatee dayaa tava nachet saa Rukmini nyagraheet,

Lakshmeereva Kuchelamaashrayati ko jaanati tattvam tava?.

[Oh Krishna! You are the king of greedy people. What is this, You have done! Kuchela is Your friend and a poor Brahmin (not by birth but by qualities and deeds). You have taken parched rice from Kuchela by force. You are the Lord of Lakshmi, the deity of wealth. You are not giving even a single rupee to Kuchela even though he is going back to his home, even after seeing the climax condition of his poverty!

Oh Lord! How foolish I am to misunderstand You! If Rukmini did not obstruct You to eat the parched rice for third time, all Your wealth should have gone to Kuchela! Is it possible to estimate the extent of Your kindness! (Like this we misunderstand God’s actions without knowing them in depth. The behavior of Krishna in His palace will make us to scold Him. On seeing the extent of wealth granted to Kuchela, we repent for our scolding understanding the unimaginable extent of kindness of God.)]

6)   Sthagitam kamaladvandvam, manye te nayanadvayam,

Yamunaambho dayaashaityaat, tvam himasphatikeekrutam.

[I think that You are the water of blue Yamuna river, which is condensed into Your solid body due to Your cold kindness. The proof for this is Your both eyes, which are the lotus flowers, stuck in the solid during solidification of its water!]

7)   Raviruchirahimaambhodantadeedhityupetam,

Kisayalamadharam te mandahaasena mohaat,

Kalayati dashanaagraih peeditoshthasravaasriah,

Virachitanavalaakshaakoutukaa Raadhikaapi.

[Your tender lips mingled with the light rays of Your white teeth look like tender leaflets mingled with snow drops shining with the reflected light of Sun. Radha, on seeing Your lips, is biting her lower lip with teeth due to blind fascination as a result of which blood flew showing her lip as if decorated by red lipstick!]

8)   Saayantane dhenuvivartanaaya, prayujyamaanam purushottamena,

Brundaavane spandini mandamandam, shrunomi sampraptyapi venugaanam.

[Even today, I am listening that sweet song of flute given by the Lord of Lords in the evening for the sake of the cows to return, which is creating very light vibrations in the brundaavana forest.]

9)   Na taarkikaistattvamidam prapannam, yeshaam mate no gaganaravindam,

Neelaambuvaahe nalinadvayepi, sandrushyamaane karunaamarande.

[The scholars of logic can’t understand the nature of God Krishna. The scholars say that the lotus flower in this sky is unreal. But, we find two lotus flowers (eyes) in the body-sky of blue cloud-Krishna!]

10)   Dikpaalaanaam makutaghatitam svargasampattiruupam,

Vaamaa suute hrudayanilayaa yasya drushtyaa hiranyam,

Soyam vanyaam viharati gavaam paalako gomayaankah,

Kaupeenaango gatadinakrutaahaarakaasaarapaayee.

[When the Lord looks with left eye at His wife, Goddess Lakshmi, She creates enormous amount of gold as the wealth of heaven indicated by the crowns of deities of eight sides. Such Lord is now wandering in the brundaavana forest controlling the cows with marks of cow dung, with little cloth worn, eating food prepared in the previous day and drinking water from lakes!]

11)  Yatpadaanchalakrute sthitaashchiram, dagdhamanmadhasharaastapasvinah,

Dahyamaanavapushaa manobhuvaah, Raadhikacharanayoh patatyayam.

[The sages, who burnt the arrows of cupid in order to reach tips of Whose feet, such Lord is falling on the feet of Radha with body burnt by the arrows of cupid!]

12)  Talpasheshaphaninah sahasrashah, shvaasavaayuvishasanganeelima,

Anyadhaa spatikanirmalam mahah, shuddhasattvamavalokayaamahe.

[God Vishnu is the embodiment of crystal white sattva quality and hence, really is white in colour. But, why He looks black? I think the reason is that since He is lying on the bed of the Lord of serpents, Whose mouth is expelling air with poison and the close Lord always touched by such air became black!]

13)  Vaame rashmichayam nidhaayaa cha kare pratyutthitah syandane,

Saakshaat veerarasaavataarakalayaa samyojayannaanane,

Dadhmau dakshinahastasambhrutamasau shankham sa Naaraayano,

Maasabhruunakulakshayaantimashamah kauravyavargastriyaam.

[Lord Krishna holding controlling ropes of horses in the left hand, stood in the vehicle (ratha), appearing with the shining style of valor took His conch shell, which was blown in such a way that the sound got pacified after the destruction of even one month child existing in the womb of the ladies of the opposite kaurava party!]

14)  Niveshya vaktre navaneetapindam, yo vallaveenaam hrudayam jahaara,

Soyam haratyeva Harih kurunaam, dhairyam mukhodanchitapaanchajanyah.

[The Lord stole the hearts of Gopikas by keeping a lump of white butter in His mouth by His hands for eating. The same Lord is now stealing the courage of kauravas by keeping the white conch shell in His mouth with His hands for blowing.]

15)  Brundaavanaat gaarudaratnakoshaat, Gopaanganaavidrumahaaramadhyaat,

SaRaadhikamauktikamindraneelam, chetashchiram chorayati prabhum me.

[From the treasure of green gems of Brundaavana forest and from the chain of red ruby-Gopikas, My mind is stealing My Lord, the blue diamond, associated with the pearl-Radha for a long time.]

16)  Arunaadharayorvenum, tarunam karunaarnavam,

Yaache charanadaasyaaya, maranaayaadhunaathavaa.

[I am praying for serving the feet of Lord Krishna, Who has flute on His red lips, Who is young and Who is ocean of kindness. If such service is not available, I am praying the Lord to give Me immediate death.]

17)  Yuvatim prati kaameeva, kaalo vegena dhaavati,

Krishnameghapadam gamyam, asmaakam gaganaayate.

[Time is running very fast like a fellow fascinated towards sex runs fast after an young lady. The place of Krishna-cloud is beyond our reach like the sky. (The cloud exists in the sky and sky is beyond reach.)]

18)  Aadisheshavalayaangashaayinam, shankhachakramuraleekaram bhaje,

Pinchakotimakutam mahaarnavaat, Utthitam kamapi lokanaayakam.

[I worship the Lord rising from mighty ocean, Who is lying on the coiled body of Lord of serpents, Who is bearing conch shell, wheel and flute in four hands, Who is decorated by the peacock feather on the tip of His crown and Who is the distinguished leader of the world.]

19)  Kamalam kamalena neeyate, kamalam yat charanam karanena te,

Vadanam radanadyutirbabhau, kamalaayah kamaalaasanasya cha.

[Oh Lord! When You are taking Your lotus-foot near to Your lotus-face with the help of Your lotus-hand, the lotus-faces of deity (Lakshmi) and the Lord (Brahma) sitting on the lotus flowers were decorated by the light of white teeth due to smile. (Seeing this play of Lord, Lakshmi and Brahma are smiling.)]

20)  Kadaa peetavaaso vasaanaah shareere, vayam vaasudevaaya samnyastavantah,

Hare! Raadhikaalola! Gopaalaketi, smaranto natamaah kare kaamsyataalaah?

[After wearing gold coloured cloth on our body and renunciated for the sake of Vaasudeva, when can we dance blowing hand cymbals crying “Hare! Raadhikalola (fascinated towards Radha)! Gopaalaka (controller of cows)”!]

21)  Venuvaadanamadhusvanaanvitah, kinkineecharananartanakramah,

Vallaveehrudayapallavapradah, kopi Gopakitavasya jrumbhate.

[The style of the dance of this mischievous cowherd is growing and growing with sweet sounds of tiny bells of His anklets, associated with sweet songs of flute and making the hearts of Gopikas to give tender leaflets. (The hearts of Gopikas are generating new desires.)]

22)  Paatu tasya kimiheti Gopikaa—brumhanasya sahasaa kuchagrahe,

Kelikandukayugam mama chyutam, deeyataam taditi dattamuttaram.

[The boy Krishna has suddenly caught the two breasts of a Gopika and she shouted with anger asking Him “What is this?”. The boy replied “I have lost two playing balls. Return the two balls hidden by you”. Such reply of the Lord will protect all of you!]

23)  Mahaneeyamaham manye, maho neelam mahaatmanah,

Ashraantataadanaat jaatam, Gopeeneelotpalekshanaih.

[The colour of body of Lord Krishna became blue and I think the reason is that the blue eye-looks of Gopikas are always attacking His beautiful body!]

24)   Adharamadhuramandasmeramaanikyamuktaa—

Vyatikararuchisandhyaasuuryadhautaamshushobham,

Karunarasakanaarthee peetapashchaardhavaasah—

Kanakashikharamegham kanchidaavaahayaami.

[The Lord is shining with white smile on red lips, which is like a pearl associated with a red ruby and like the white Sun associated with His red twilight. He is wearing gold colored cloth below His waist and looks like a blue cloud sitting on the top of the tower of Meru, the gold mountain. I invoke such Lord for getting a drop of His kindness.]

25)  Kaaryakaaranasambandhaah, duuram tishthantu taarkikaah,

Navaneeta dadhi ksheeram, bhuktvaapi bhramaradyuteh.

[You, the scholars of logic stand far away because your logic of cause-effect is not applicable to Lord Krishna, Who has become black like a bee even after eating very white butter and curd and drinking white milk!]

26)  Svedasphurattilakasankulakuntalaantam, Paariplavashravanakundalamoulibarham,

Venuswanaanupadanartitakinkineekam,

Gopam bhaje kamapi raasarasaikalolam.

[I worship a special cowherd, Who has mark on the forehead shining due to sweat and on which a lock of hair is moving, Whose ear rings are vibrating along with the peacock feather on the head and Who is dancing according to His flute song while the tiny bells of anklets sound in the dance-game with Gopikas in brundaavana forest to which the Lord is very much fascinated.]

27)  Ratnaprabhaamekhalayendrachaapam, muktaavaleehaaratatillataangam,

Pashyaami muktashramavaaribindum, kreedaaparam shraavanakrishnamegham.

[I see Lord Krishna, the blue cloud of shravana month (rainy season in which He was born), who is involved in the dance-game with shining gem-belt looking like rainbow, with shining pearl chains looking like white lightenings and with falling sweat drops, which look like rain drops!]

28)  Gaganavatsakaloparisamsthitam, jaladhivat karunaarasapuuritam,

Ubhayaneelamahkiranaakaram, bhaja nishaacharakaalaphanaamanim.

[Worship Lord Krishna, Who is like the sky situated above all, Who is like the sea with full kindness-water, Who is radiating the rays of blue light like both the sky and sea and Who is the blue diamond on the head of death-serpent for demons.]

29)  Aalolaavayavaistarantamudakakreedaaparam prasphurat –

Muktaabhushanapaanipadmamupari prekshaajanah kaatarah,

Kaalindyaamavalolaphenakanikaamaalaam sapadmaanchitaam,

Matvaa kaamapi veechikaam kila shishum Krishnam nimagnaashayah.

[When the boy Krishna is swimming in the blue river called Yamuna, the moving body of Krishna was mistaken as a wave of the river. The pearl chains on the body of Krishna were mistaken as strips of foam on the wave. The hands and feet of Krishna were mistaken as the lotus flowers on the wave. The people standing on the bank started weeping with fear that actual Krishna was drowned!]

30)  Yat beejaaksharakonayantrashatakadhyaanasthiraistaapasaih,

Sargasya prabhavasthitipralayakrut jyotih param mrugyate,

Krishnaakaaradharam tadeva Yamunaakuuleshu beejasrajaam,

Gande yaadavayoshitaam makarikaapatrakriyaanishthitam!

[The sages by sitting firm in the meditation having hundreds of metallic sheets before them on which design diagrams (yantras) are drawn with some letters (bijaksharas) in the corners of diagrams, are searching for the light-energy, which is creating, maintaining and destroying this world. These sages are unfortunately not aware that the same energy searched by them has become Lord Krishna, Who is absorbed with concentration in drawing beautiful designs with colors on the checks of Gopikas sitting on the banks of Yamuna river!]

31) Aalambe charanam tasya, plushto Brahmaastratejasaa,

Yena pallavitah sprushtah, paanduvamshaankurah kshanaat.

[I catch the divine foot of Lord Krishna, which by touch made the seedling of the race of Pandavas (Pareekshit, the baby in the womb of Uttara) to become alive with activated tender leaflet-limbs even though it was burnt to become charred by the powerful radiation of the arrow of God Brahma called as Brahmastra (left by Ashvatthaama to destroy the entire race of pandavas)!]
