Does a country have a horoscope?

[Shri Anil asked: Does a country have a horoscope like an individual based on date of birth? India was a land of sages and saints. Now our country is facing threats of war from our neighbours (China and Pakistan). We never attacked other countries. But still, we were attacked many times by Pakistan and China. Just as we say for a person, can we also say for a country that it is the fate (karma cakra) of that country that has brought such a situation? Or it is the fate of the collective population? Some astrologers have prepared horoscopes of India and China based on their formation dates and have predicted a forthcoming war. Are such predictions based on treating the formation dates of countries as the birth dates of the countries valid, as per Vedic astrology?]

Swami replied: The formation date of the country and the first letter of the name of the country are used by astrologers to formulate the horoscope of the country. The overall population of the country following a pattern of sins can be the cause for the bad fate of a country. The kingdom of Laṅkā contained demons who regularly followed sinful ways in ancient times. Finally, their behaviour caused a war that destroyed the whole kingdom. The horoscope of the country having the specific arrangement of the planets is based on the qualities possessed by the public of the country. These qualities become responsible for the fate of the country. The same is applicable to an individual also. Following the nature of an individual or the public of a country, the positions of planets are determined. What I mean is that the nature of the soul or a group of souls decides the positions of the planets and not vice-versa. If the nature of the soul or souls is good, God will protect the soul or souls, even if the planets are in bad positions.
