How can one have single-pointed devotion towards God when He exists in many forms?

[Part of Online Satsanga held on January 10, 2021] Shri Phani asked: God exists in the form of many Energetic Incarnations and in the form of Human Incarnations, including contemporary Human Incarnations. If we express devotion towards all those forms of God, how can we attain the state of single-pointed devotion towards God called ekabhathi, which is said to be the highest?

Swāmi replied: Ekabhakti means the devotion towards God without any diversion towards worldly bonds. The devotee is diverted from the state of ekabhakti due to worldly bonds and not due to the different bonds of devotion with different forms of the same God. The question is whether you are devoted to God or to the world. It is not a question of whether you are devoted to one form of God or more forms of God. A student complains about the various subjects present in the college curriculum and says that he is unable to concentrate on studies due to this diversity. This is a false complaint. The reality is that he is attracted to many non-academic activities like games, movies, reading novels, gossiping with friends etc. That is why he is unable to concentrate on his studies. The multiplicity of subjects in the curriculum is not the real problem. The real problem is the distractions towards multiple non-academic activities and forms of entertainment. He is trying to divert our attention from the real point due to his over-intelligence!
