Is logic or one's inner consciousness the basis to decide the genuineness of the visions of God?

[An online spiritual discussion was conducted on October 24, 2020, in which several devotees participated. Some of the questions of devotees answered by Swāmi are given below.]

[Dr. JSR Prasad asked: After listening from You (Swāmi), I remember a sūtram from Brahma Sūtras which starts as follows: “Tarkāpratiṣṭhānāt”. What is the role of one’s inner consciousness there (Satāṃ hi sandehapadeṣu vastuṣu...)? I ask this question in the context of the vision of an Energetic Incarnation and not in the context of the Brahma jñānam given by Sadguru.]

Swāmi replied:- The sūtram quoted by you is related to logic, which is your own subject since you are a professor of logic! It addresses the issue of whether one should leave logic since it is endless. The present theory will be contradicted or replaced by another future theory and so on ad infinitum. The sūtram says that leaving logic due to the above reason is not correct because leaving logic based on the above reason itself is a form of logic. Hence, there is no escape from logic (Evamapyanirmokṣa prasaṅgaḥ)! There are several theories that stand unbeaten forever. So, the possibility that one theory will be replaced by another cannot be generalized.

Regarding the visions, many are false, but some are genuine. You can understand the truth of the vision by your inner consciousness and this is said in the line that follows the line quoted by you, which is “Pramāṇa-mantaḥkaraṇa-pravṛttayaḥ”. The knowledge given by the real Sadguru or Human Incarnation will not give rise to any doubt in you because the knowledge given by the Sadguru is elaborate and it contains the answers to all possible doubts (Chidyante sarvasaṃśayāḥ…). One gets endless doubts only when the Brahma Sūtram quoted by you is partially understood, which is that logic is endless. If the other part of the sūtram is also known, there will be no doubts. The complete and comprehensive knowledge of the Sadguru, once heard, will not leave the slightest room for doubt and such knowledge is called prajñānam (Prajñānaṃ BrahmaVeda). Doubts arise only when there is a trace of falsehood in the knowledge. If the knowledge is completely true (Satyajñānam…Veda), there is no chance of raising any doubt.
