Swami Answers Devotees' Questions

[An online spiritual discussion was conducted on February 20, 2021, in which several devotees participated. Some of the questions of devotees answered by Swāmi are given below.]

1. What is the meaning of the words jñātā and jñeyam?

[Śrī Veerabhadra Sastry asked: The verse below is from the Yoga Vāśiṣṭham:

jñātā jñānaṃ tathā jñeyaṃ draṣṭādarśanadṛśyabhūḥ

kartā hetuḥ kriyā yasmāttasmai jñasyātmane namaḥ

Can You please explain the meaning of the words words jñātā, jñeyam and the total meaning of this verse?]

Swāmi replied: The knower, knowledge (path) and known or the walker, the walking and the goal to be reached or the meditator, meditation and the goal of meditation etc. are the famous triads.

2. Will Guru support me even if I am not in this world or if Guru is not in this world?

[A question asked by Śrī Veerabhadra Sastry.]

Swāmi replied: That depends on your right selection of the Guru and your intensity of devotion towards the Guru. If the Guru is not genuine, the intensity of your devotion for him goes waste. If the Guru selected by you is really a Sadguru, even a small intensity of your devotion for Him will give you good results. The speed of running is not important, but it is important to run in the right direction; towards the right goal. A person may reach the right goal even if he is walking towards it. He will be benefited by reaching the correct goal. Another person, even if he is running fast, but towards the wrong goal, is totally lost.
