Why do we not get bored of the world despite being born repeatedly?

[An online spiritual discussion was conducted on February 14, 2021, in which several devotees participated. Some of the questions of devotees answered by Swāmi are given below.]

[Ms. Lakshmi Thrylokya asked: Definitely, this birth is not our first birth as a human. Every soul was born and has died a thousand times. We have had a thousand sets of parents, a thousand sets of spouses and a thousand sets of children. We have built our careers a thousand times before. But why do we not get completely bored (virakti) of the world? Generally, we get bored if we perform the same routine task again and again. But here, why are we not getting bored of the world? Why do worldly things still seem to be interesting and new?]

Swami replied: You have not had multiple sets of parents, spouses etc., in the same birth. Even though you have had multiple sets of these worldly bonds over several births, you do not have the memory of those previous births. You will certainly get bored, if you watch a hundred movies, one after the other, without any gap. You will also get bored, if you watch a hundred movies, in a hundred days because the memory of the earlier movies watched by you is still there in your mind. In the case of multiple births, the memory of every previous birth is completely erased in every new birth that you get. If you watch a hundred movies at the rate of one movie per day, such that for every new movie, the memory of the previous movie is completely erased, you will not get bored. You will be watching every new movie with a totally fresh mind. The omniscient and omnipotent God is very careful about taking care of such petty issues in His divine administration.
