Did both Jesus and God suffer the agony of crucifixion?

[Shri Anil asked: Jesus cried out on the cross “Why have You (Father) left Me?”. What is the meaning of this statement? When in trouble, people generally say, “God why have you left me”. Did Jesus too utter that statement in the same way? Or was it a situation in which the Father (God) had withdrawn from the body of Jesus at that time? If that is the case, why should the Father withdraw from the body of Jesus? Afterwards, Jesus was going to be in an inactive state inside the cave for three days. Could the Father of Heaven not have stayed in Jesus during the crucifixion and even while He was in the cave, in the inactive state? Can one say that during the crucifixion, both Son and Father underwent the agony of crucifixion together? Kindly clarify this.]

Swāmi replied: The Human Incarnation is a system of three components in the single phase, which is the human being-component. The unimaginable God became the Father of heaven by permanently merging with the first energetic form. The Father of heaven is called Datta in Hinduism and is the first Energetic Incarnation of God. This Father then merged with the human being-component, called Jesus. The unimaginable God is beyond space and hence, is not touched by any agony. The Father of heaven has relative awareness as a soul, which is divinised by the merging of the unimaginable God and hence, He too undergoes pain, along with the human being component. No matter how much you try to imagine, you cannot distinguish between the three items merged to form the Human Incarnation, which are the unimaginable God, the Father of heaven and the human being component called Jesus. The Human Incarnation shows the divine nature of the unimaginable God and the Father of heaven, who are merged with each other forever. The Human Incarnation also shows the human nature of the human being-component.

The suffering expressed by the Human Incarnation is indeed real, so that the sacrifice of God for His devotees is real and sincere. It is not a mere false show. This establishes the real love of God for devotees. Both the souls of the Father of heaven and Jesus are souls consisting of relative awareness and both were prepared to suffer the pain and agony. The statement “O God! Why did You leave Me?” shows the climax of agony, in which the fact that God was constantly present in Jesus was forgotten. It shows the natural human tendency of the human being component. If the suffering were not real, Jesus would not have requested God to avoid the agony, if possible.

The love possessed by God is not a drama. It is a real practical fact. The human being component should have the climax of patience to withstand suffering and since this point is not known, every soul is very eager to become a Human Incarnation! The philosophers of Advaita (Monism) are unaware of this responsibility and are only aware of the power of God transmitted through the human being component. Once a devotee went to Bhagavān Shri Satya Sai Bāba and asked for Bāba’s state to be granted to him. Bāba immediately transferred His state to the devotee very gladly. In that state, the devotee became a Human Incarnation and at once began to hear the cries of lakhs of devotees for protection. The devotee was terribly worried and cried, requesting Bāba to take back His state! Powers are always accompanied by responsibilities!
