Why did Prophet Muhammed object to castration?

[Shri Anil asked: Pādanamaskāraṃ Swami! Abdullah has narrated the following in the Hadith: “We used to participate in the holy battles led by Allāh's Apostle and we had nothing (no wives) with us. So we said, ‘Shall we get ourselves castrated?’ He forbade us that and then allowed us to marry women with a temporary contract and recited to us: ‘O you who believe! Make not unlawful the good things which Allah has made lawful for you, but commit no transgression. (5.87)’. Swami, in this incident why did Prophet Muhammad object to castration? Can we correlate the temporary contract with a woman in the above incident to the ancient tradition of devadāsīs in Hinduism? Please grace us with Your reply.-At Your Divine Feet –anil]

Swami replied: O Learned and Devoted Servants of God! Castration is not acceptable to God because any measure taken that goes against the plan of God amounts to misunderstanding and finding fault with God’s administration. Continuing the human race is a very important plan of God. If reproduction is thus understood as a divine program, no devotee will oppose it. It is called a temporary contract because continuing to engage in sex, even after its purpose has been served by producing children, is not in line with spiritual life. The essence of the word ‘temporary’ is that there is a need for controlling the over-activity in family life.
