Satsanga During Shri Satya Narayana Vratam on 19-03-2026

[His Holiness Shri Datta Swami has conducted the worship of Shri Satya Narayana Swami as the Priest on 19th March 2026, after the marriage of Dr. Geetha Lahari (Yashoda Hospital) and Shri Vishnu (IT Professional). Many devotees have attended the worship and few flashes of the spiritual knowledge radiated from Swami’s mouth are presented here.]

1. Why do we call the God as Satya Narayana instead of simply calling as Narayana?

The extra word ‘Satya’ means the essence of Narayana. It means that the actual (satya) form of God Narayana or God Vishnu is feminine Shakti. This worship is recommended to be done in the night and not during the day time since the scripture says “Take bath in the evening and start the worship when night begins.” (Sāyaṃ kāle punaḥ snātvā, yajet Devaṃ niśā mukhe– First Chapter, Reva Khanda, Skānda Purāṇam). Shakti, the Mother, is worshipped in the night whereas Shiva, the Father, is worshipped in the day time. This worship to be done in the night is again stressed in the first chapter (Yaje ccaivaṃ niśāmukhe…).

2. What is the proof for the existence of feminine form of God Narayana?

The proof for God Shiva to be the Father and God Narayana to be the Mother is that God Narayana took the feminine form of Mohinii and married the masculine God Shiva to get a son called Śāstā, who incarnated on earth as Manikantha or Ayyappa Swami.

3. Why is this worship so powerful?

This worship is considered to be very powerful because all the administration staff of the entire creation are invited and worshipped along with God Shri Satya Narayana Swami. The staff at the highest level are the five Loka Pālakas or Rulers of creation namely God Ganapati, God Brahmā, God Vishnu, God Shiva and Goddess Parvati or Shakti (In this 5-member committee, females need not claim for their 50% representation because God Vishnu as Mohinī and God Shiva as Ardhanārīśvara make the desired 50% !!!). The staff at the higher level are the nine planets namely Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rāhu and Ketu. The next high-level staff are the eight rulers of the eight directions namely Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirruti, Varuna, Vayu, Kubera and Īśāna. It is like a director invited for the dinner party along with all his office staff. Any devotee, either male or female, either single or married, either with spouse or without spouse, can do this worship on any day irrespective of caste or gender or financial status. No astrologically auspicious day is required because the very worship of God is going to remove all the inauspicious effects. There is no need of any good day for doing the worship of God. Even if one is poor, he/she can do the worship in simplest way with available items without any lavishness. God sees the sincerity in worship and not the lavishness.

4) Further points in support of the feminine form of God Narayana as Shakti are:-

  1. God Narayana doesn’t have a mustache and beard, whereas God Shiva is often presented with mustache.
  2. God Narayana is fond of jewels and decoration whereas God Shiva is not interested in jewels and decoration.
  3. God Narayana is in the duty of maintenance of the world just like the mother is involved in the duty of maintenance of the house. God Shiva representing the destruction is involved in the discipline of the house as head of the family like father.
  4. In the holy names of Goddess Lalitā, one name says that She generated ten incarnations of God Vishnu (Daśāvatāras) from the nails of Her ten fingers of hands (Karāṅguli nakhotpanna– Nārāyaṇa daśākṛtiḥ) indicating that both Shakti and Narayana are one and the same.
  5. In the temples of God Shiva, offering of food happens only once in a day. In the temples of God Narayana, frequent offerings of food (Naivedyam) are seen throughout the day. Scripture says that females eat double quantity of food compared to males (Strīṇāṃ dviguṇa māhāram).
  6. God Shiva burnt the deity of romance (Cupid or Kāmadeva). God Narayana did lot of romance with several Gopikas. Scripture says that females have eight times more lust than males (Strīṇām aṣṭa gunaḥ kāmaḥ).
  7. In fact, God Rama is the incarnation of Goddess Lalitā and God Krishna is the incarnation of Goddess Śyāmalā. Scripture says that Goddess Lalitaa is red in colour (Aruṇāṃ karuṇā taraṅgitākṣīm) and hence, God Rama is very fair (therefore, the photo of God Rama is printed with fair colour in our photos). Goddess Shyamala is pale black (śyāma means pale black colour) and hence, Krishna is pale black (therefore, the photo of Krishna is printed with pale black colour in our photos).

5) Inner meaning of stories read after worship

  1. In the stories read after worship, a Brahmana, two Kshatriyas, two Vyshyas, a Śūdra, some cowherds and two females were mentioned. This caste system was based on the qualities and deeds of the soul and not based on the birth of the soul. God Krishna, the highest incarnation of God Satyanarayana told that the caste system is based on qualities and deeds and not on birth (Cāturvarṇyaṃ mayā sṛṣṭaṃ, guṇa karma vibhāgaśaḥ). Hence, Caste System not by birth, but by qualities and deeds is the concept of God Shri Satya Narayana Swami. It is told in the first chapter that the women of all castes and the Śūdras shall worship using normal Sanskrit verses and not the Vedic hymns. The idea here is that these two categories need not waste their time to recite the Veda with accents (Veda Svara) since the Veda simply means knowledge and not mere words without knowing their meanings. One shall always remember that the caste meant by sages is not by birth, but by mere qualities and deeds.
  2. In the second chapter, a Brahmana suffers with a lot of poverty. Scripture says that if mantra is leftover by Brahmana, poverty will attack (Mantra tyāgī daridrataḥ). Mantra means the meaning that enlightens the mind. Mind always grasps the meaning of the word and not the word merely. Since Brahmana as a priest is not revealing the meaning of the Vedic hymns that kindles true devotion in the minds of the listening devotees, the priest avoiding mantra without explaining the meaning of Vedic hymns became very poor. God helped him because he was simply following the tradition of his ancestors since the beginning of Kali age and he himself is not the initiator and establisher of this bad concept of blindly chanting the Vedic hymns without explaining the meaning in mother tongue.
  3. In the same second chapter, a Shuudra cutting sticks and selling those for livelihood is also introduced and he was never told to have suffered with poverty because Shuudras never suppressed any other caste since they were only suppressed by other castes. This seller of sticks entered the house of the above said Brahmana for the sake of drinking water since he became thirsty (tṛṣṇayā pīḍitātmā ca). This thirst shall not be interpreted as poverty because hunger alone is the indicator of poverty. Thirst has nothing to do with poverty. Even a king can become thirsty!
  4. In the third chapter, a king was introduced doing this worship. He was not punished by God since he never did any sin at any time. This means that there are some good souls, who will not become egoistic due to power and wealth.
  5. In third and fourth chapters, a Vyshya doing business is introduced, who was very much greedy even towards God. Such greedy fellow was subjected to several difficulties again and again till he was reformed. Every time, his wife seriously advises him that he should not be greedy towards God. This shows that females generally have lesser greediness with more submissiveness due to lack of masculine ego. The greedy people spend lakhs of rupees on purchasing new clothes for wedding, but they purchase a cheap red kashi towel for one rupee for the sake of presenting to the priest! They purchase Bāsumati rice for very high cost to be cooked as food for their relatives and friends in the function whereas they purchase very cheap ration rice to give to the priests!
  6. In the fourth chapter, the daughter of greedy Vyshya was also punished by God since she did the worship of Shri Satyanarayana Swami, but, forgot to take the remains of food offered to God (prasādam) due to excessive fascination for her husband, who was coming home after a long time. The advice of God is that one should not be inspired by the selfish love of worldly bonds, especially before the selfless true love of God.
  7. In the fifth chapter, cowherds were again introduced doing this worship with full purity and innocence. They were not punished by God since they never did any sin. In this chapter, another king was introduced, who did a sin of not saluting God and also not accepting the prasadam from cowherds. The king was horribly punished by God for his ego.
  8. The males of higher castes were punished for their sins by God due to their ego of higher castes. The caste of Śūdras was never punished by God due to lack of caste-ego in them and not doing any sin due to their submissiveness resulting from their suppression by higher castes. These Śūdras and females of all castes were categorized in one group due to the common suppression by males of higher castes by denying the right to study the Vedas. Veda means only knowledge and not blind recitation of some words without knowing their meaning. The meaning is written in the form of normal Sanskrit verses as secondary scriptures (Purāṇams). The females of all castes and Śūdras are very fortunate because they learn the meaning of Vedas through the study of purāṇams without wasting time in the blind recitation of the Veda.
  9. In the fourth chapter, the female soul called Kalāvatī was punished by God for her blind fascination to the worldly bond. This means that God is advising women not to have so much blind fascination towards worldly bonds and neglect God.

6) Regarding the Guru Dakshina that is to be paid to the priest for conducting the worship by straining himself in reciting Vedic hymns (even though the priest does not explain the meaning because you have invited him as priest after knowing his defect very well), the doer of this worship shall pay Guru Dakshina to the priest based on two angles (Yathā śakti or capability and Yathā bhakti or impression on the priest), whichever is of lower value. Four possibilities result: i) Low capability and high impression: your capability is to pay Rs. 10 only and your impression on the priest is Rs.100. Then, pay the lower Rs. 10 only. ii) High capability and low impression: your capability is Rs. 100 and your impression on the priest is only Rs. 10. Then, pay the lower Rs. 10 only. iii) High capability and high impression: Your capability is Rs. 100 and your impression on the priest is also Rs. 100. Then, pay the tallied Rs. 100. iv) Low capability and low impression: Your capability is Rs. 10 and your impression on the priest is also Rs. 10. Then, pay the tallied Rs. 10 only.

The above values of amounts are mentioned as examples only and you should take them in relative sense and not in the absolute sense. This means that you shall not stick to Rs. 10 and Rs. 100 only even today since Swami (Myself) advised like this claiming yourselves as good followers of Swamiji following Him word by word! These figures are 5000-year-old figures (beginning of Kali age) since all the prices are soaring high due to inflation. At times, Swami hears some devotees commenting that the priests are demanding money in thousands. Swami likes to ask such devotees whether their pay scales were revised from time to time or not. You should also realise that the value of rupee has fallen down terribly. Even after confining to basic necessities, the cost of living has become very high. This does not mean that I am supporting the priests because I belong to their caste by birth. I always support the caste system based on qualities and deeds only and not by birth.

I am recommending the society of rich people to support the poor priests by giving them at least the livelihood by treating them as the poorest because our basic emergent justice is not to allow anybody to die with hunger. Even though the ignorant poor priest was reciting Vedic hymns without knowing and explaining their meanings, that poor fellow recited the Vedic hymns for hours together and hence, you can pay for that physical labour at least. You may argue that the physical labour is waste for you, since the priest did not explain the meanings. In such case, why have you invited him to do such wasteful physical labour? Once you have invited, you must pay for the physical labour at least. In fact, I am very angry with the priests for following the dirty old tradition of blind recitation of the Veda without explaining the meaning in mother tongue to the public while conducting rituals. In fact, these priests also need not be blamed because they are not the initiators of this bad tradition of blind recitation of the Veda. Their fault is that they are following the old blind traditions, which are to be discarded by analysis (Jñātvā kurviīta karmāṇi…– Gita). There are plenty of best old traditions practiced by our ancient sages to be followed by everybody.
