Shabdamekam Kathaya - Divine Song On God Datta

शब्दमेकं कथय, कथमपि च दत्त! (पल्लवी)
Śabdamekaṃ kathaya, kathamapi ca datta! (pallavī)

Oh Datta! Please speak one word at least in whatever way You like.

कण्ठ शङ्ख तीर्थं, ज्ञान गङ्गाङ्ग!
Kaṇṭha śaṅkha tīrthaṃ, jñāna gaṅgāṅga!

Oh Embodiment of spiritual knowledge – Ganga River! That one word will be holy water given by Your throat conch-shell.

[Ganga water itself is holy. When it is poured in holy conch shell it becomes more holy. Generally, throat is compared with conch shell.]

तत्त्वसार करकां, वेदान्त वर्ष!
Tattvasāra karakāṃ, vedānta varṣa!

Oh heavy rain of spiritual knowledge! That one word will be the condensed ice crystal of the essence of spiritual knowledge.

[Generally, in heavy rain, ice crystals fall.]

मोहाद्रि भेदकं, विज्ञान वज्र!
Mohādri bhedakaṃ, vijñāna vajra!
Oh holder of scientific logic – diamond weapon! That one word will be breaker of worldly fascination-hill.

[It is told that Indra broke the wings of flying hills with his diamond weapon. Similarly, one word of God Datta breaks the worldly fascinations.]
