I would like to share a miracle that I experienced in 2019, when I was working in Noida. Back then, I had been listening to the Kalabhairava Ashtakam on repeat for nearly a week. I was immersed in the beauty of the bhajan and enjoyed it thoroughly.
One evening, I was travelling from my home to another place in the city, around 30 minutes away. While I was travelling, I thought that Kalabhairava is none other than our Swami Himself. I began to visualize Swamiji as Kalabhairava. As soon as I had this thought, I felt a wave of bliss in my heart. Tears of joy spontaneously started flowing from eyes. All of a sudden, everything in the world that I felt was important—money, professional accomplishment, recognition, etc.—everything felt like it was worthless. I suddenly felt as if all my worldly desires had turned to ash. This feeling of inexplicable bliss lasted for nearly 30 minutes by the grace of Swami.
In my mind, this was undoubtedly a divine experience granted to me by our beloved Datta Swami. The next day, I wanted to share this miracle with Shri Hrushikesh anna, who is my friend and a devotee of Swamiji. Anna was residing in Hyderabad at that time. I called anna, but before I could share my experience with him, anna started narrating an incident in a low, hushed tone. He sounded like someone who had experienced a severe shock.
He told me, “Karthik, I went with my family for a darshan of Swamiji yesterday evening. While Swamiji was giving divine knowledge, the lights suddenly went off. When I looked at Swamiji, I could see Kalabhairava! Swami's face was glowing in the dark. It was as if a 10000-watt bulb had lit up His face. Swami in the form of Kalabhairava was smiling. He looked fearsome but also had a beautiful smile. He had raging red eyes, jet-black skin, long matted, dreadlocks, and a fierce moustache. My heart raced with excitement, and I couldn’t believe my eyes! I literally rubbed my eyes for a second, thinking that this might be a trick of the mind. But even then, I could only see the fearsome Kalabhairava in front of me.”
Anna continued, “The lights then came back on and Swamiji continued discussing knowledge like nothing had happened. After the satsang, I asked my family, who were also present beside me, if they had seen anything unusual. They simply said that they enjoyed listening to Swami explaining some spiritual concepts. But otherwise, they hadn’t experienced anything!”
As I heard anna’s experience, I realized that he had a vision of Swamiji as Kalabhairava at exactly the same time when I experienced a state of bliss while thinking of Swamiji as Kalabhairava. I thought that Swamji was Kalabhairava in Noida, and in Hyderabad, at the same time, Swamiji literally appeared as Kalabhairava to Shri Hrushikesh.
We thanked Swamiji profusely for this divine experience which ascertained that He was the Lord Datta residing in all divine forms of God.
