Showing Atma Linga to Shri Phani
[Phani]
It was the month of Kārtika. On a Monday, Swami was in the house of Shri Bhimasankaram. It was the first Monday of Kārtika month. Swami started bhajans in the evening. That day, Swami started singing many new songs composed by Him spontaneously. It was 10:30 in the night. All the devotees had fallen asleep. Shri Phani, son of Shri Bhimasankaram, sat at the feet of Swami. Usually, Phani does not sleep unless Swami sleeps. Phani, serving Swami's feet, always sleeps after Swami sleeps. But, that day, for some reason, Swami told Phani several times to go and sleep. But Phani did not listen to the word of Swami. Then, Swami shouted at him. He also told very loudly to go and sleep. Some devotees, who had fallen asleep, woke up, wondering, "What is this? Swami is shouting like this today?" and fell asleep again. Phani, however, sat down, bowing down and serving Swami's feet. It was exactly 12 o'clock at midnight. This time is known for the manifestation of Ātma Linga. Then, as Shri Phani was seeing Swami, a Jyotirlinga in the form of an intense, bright wave emerged from Swami's heart. Even the walls of the room became invisible due to its radiance. The sound of 'Om' was continuously emerging from it. "Swami! What is it? Shivalinga!" shouted Phani. Swami said, "This appears every day. No one can see it." Listening to this, Phani wanted to touch the Ātma Linga and so he touched it. Phani’s fingers went inside the radiant Ātma Linga and then he withdrew the fingers. The fingers were shining for a long time. The Ātma Linga appeared there for about 15 minutes, then slowly entered the heart of the Swami and disappeared. Having received this divine vision, Phani remained beyond the worldly state for 3 days. The next day, Swami explained like this. “Ātma Linga is the wave of the first willpower of God that arose to create this world. That wave is Kundalini and is also Anagha, who is the Aadi Shakti (the primordial energy).”
Everyone was overwhelmed with joy after hearing the divine words of Swami, who explained that this divine vision was the good fruit of Phani’s previous birth and that Phani was indeed the incarnation of Adishesha. Ah! What a wonderful vision!
