Are buying milk and meat same because cows are given steroids to get more milk?

[Shri Abhiram Kudala asked: Paadanamaskaaram, Swamy. Swamy, in one of the conversations with my friend, he mentioned that in his opinion, buying milk and meat from outside are one and the same because even cows are being made to suffer by giving steroids etc. to get excess of milk. Hence, he said that buying milk and meat are the same in both the cases as suffering is involved. Could you please explain on this so that I can forward the answer to him? Swami replied:- Do you mean that suffering and killing are one and the same? When you talk about milking the cow, generally steroids are not used in normal conditions. Suffering in the quantity of a mustard seed and a pumpkin fruit are not one and the same.
