[Shri Abhiram asked:- Swami, love has a defect, which is that it is always associated with the accomplishment of some selfish aspiration. How to solve this problem?]
Swami replied:- Love to God in the beginning stage may have the desire to fulfil some selfish worldly aspiration since God Krishna said that in the beginning stage, every system is surrounded by defects like the fire in the beginning stage of burning is surrounded by smoke (Sarvārambhā hi doṣeṇa dhūmenāgni rivāvṛtāḥ). The devotee shall not be discouraged by this starting trouble. As long as this defect continues, the devotee will remain in LKG class only. A boy or girl joined LKG class at the age of 5 years. Sometimes, you may find a case, which is that the same boy or girl continued in the LKG class till the end of life! You may think this case is very very rare. But today, in spiritual life, every human being (male or female) is present in this LKG class only. Hence, this is not a rare example, but everybody belongs to this example only. Even the oldest person is worried with his/her family problems only (Vṛddhastāvat cintāsaktaḥ- Shankara).
Even a person while dying told last words about the broomstick being eaten by a calf and warned his people to take care of the broomstick. That person is born as a sweeper on the road in the next birth. This example is given by Shri Satya Sai Baba in His speech. Even this example told by Baba is based on His kindness so that people are not discouraged very much. Baba told that that person got the human re-birth as a road sweeper. In fact, that person thinking about the animal in the last minutes was born as an animal only. If I tell this truth, human beings will be very much discouraged. Hence, the kindest Baba did not tell this harsh truth. In fact, human re-birth is very very rare and almost impossible. The human re-birth is sanctioned by God only for a special case working hard throughout the life, but unfortunately, little rectification exists. In order to complete this little rectification, God grants human re-birth. Human birth is told to be very very rare (Jantūnāṃ narajanma durlabhamidam). Very very rare means that the deserving person is also very very rare. For all other human beings, human re-birth is very very rare (durlabham), means that it is impossible. Every soul will get one human birth. If the soul wastes the time of the human birth in worldly bonds only, the next human re-birth only is discussed above and not about the first common human birth. I told human re-birth is impossible, but I didn’t tell that human birth is impossible. Every soul is given only one chance of human birth.
The solution for this problem is that as spiritual knowledge is acquired more and more, this defect will gradually disappear just like the fire lit after some time, burns brightly without smoke.
