The Only Technique

[A devotee, Shri G. Lakshman asked Swami "What is the use of the form of God, when I can experience God directly as I came to know His qualities". Swami replied to his question by a spontaneous discourse in two parts.

Shri. G. Lakshman is an excellent devotee having the craze for divine knowledge. When he hears the divine knowledge, he does not eat or sleep. He donates lot of money for the propagation of this divine knowledge in the service of Lord Datta. Recently Swami gave him a vision of Lord Ananta Padmanabha for a long time and he was immersed in the infinite bliss for several days.]

The Only Technique - I

Let us assume that Parabrahma is the fire. The qualities of Parabrahma like knowledge, bliss and love put together can be assumed as the heat. Let us assume the human incarnation as a wire.

Unless you have experience you cannot have the knowledge. The Vedas, the Shastras and logic should also support the experience. Otherwise a mad fellow may experience some false thing that cannot be taken as a standard. Now such experience becomes the real knowledge. Now if you want to experience the fire along with its heat you are disappearing. Because when the fire is expressed along with its heat the whole world disappears and you also disappeared. Now there is no question of experience and then there is no meaning of getting the knowledge. Similarly, you can never experience Parabrahma directly and therefore, you cannot have the knowledge of Parabrahma at any cost. The Parabrahma is beyond your imagination. Therefore, through the egoistic path of the only knowledge (Jnana Yoga), you can neither experience the fire nor experience the heat. You are totally lost.

But if you can get rid of your egoism and jealousy and if you can accept the human incarnation at least you can experience the heat. The fire has entered the wire. You touched the wire and you experienced the heat. What is fire? The heat infinitely intensified is the fire. When the fire entered the wire, the fire is hidden in the wire and radiates only that much amount of heat through the wire by which you will not be smashed to ash. By receiving the little heat, you can imagine the infinite intensity of that heat and thus you can imagine the fire. The wire controls the intensity of the heat so that you can experience the fire. Once you experience the heat you have to multiply it infinitely and that brings the fire into your brain. If you approach the fire directly even before you experience its heat you are just vaporized in which situation neither there is experience nor the knowledge. Thus, the fire has arranged this wire technique so that you can experience the fire within your limits and thereby you can imagine even the infiniteness of that heat quality.

The first wire into which the fire entered was called Datta. But the second third fourth etc., wires are also called by the name Datta. Every human incarnation is Datta. Datta means the wire that is given to the devotees in order to experience the hidden fire in it. The three heads are only the three qualities (Sattvam, Rajas and Tamas). The wire is Prakriti or Maayaa, which consists of all the three qualities. There is no need of three heads, which is only a pictorial representation for the sake of ignorant people. Even Rama who is the embodiment of Sattvam became angry with Sage Jabali and this anger is Rajas. Rama was after the golden deer and that is Tamas. So, three heads indicate that any human incarnation contains all the three qualities.

Parabrahma has arranged this wire technique using His highest intelligence. If anybody can suggest a better way than this, Parabrahma will acknowledge with thanks and will adopt that technique in future.

The Only Technique – II

As per the Veda, Knowledge, Bliss and Love are the characteristic properties of the God (Parabrahma). A property must be possessed by a substratum (Dravya). Light and heat are the characteristic properties of the Sun. Sun is a substratum. The Substratum is a concentrated form of the properties. So, God is the concentrated substratum of Knowledge, Bliss and Love as said by the Veda (Prajñāna ghanaḥ, Brahma puccham pratiṣṭhā). God is beyond imagination. Imagination means knowledge. Knowledge must be born from experience and the Veda, the Shashtra and logic should support it. Then only it can be real knowledge. Mere experience cannot give the real knowledge because the mad experience of a mad fellow cannot be true. Experience must be direct. If somebody says that Honey is sweet, such knowledge cannot be the real knowledge unless you taste the honey and experience it. Consciousness is also a quality. A quality cannot exist independently. You can see the consciousness existing in a living being only and that living being is the substratum. Power is also a quality. Though Sun is the condensed form of light, when Sun is absent then light is not seen. God is also a condensed form of Knowledge, Bliss and Love and God created this world through ‘Maayaa’.

When you say the word Knowledge it means it is also consciousness. Knowledge must have consciousness. Consciousness need not have the Knowledge. Knowledge means the Knowledge of a Shaastra i.e., a concept. Prajnanam means the true and infinite knowledge of God, which is also called as Philosophy. Vedanta is Philosophy, because it is the topmost knowledge of the Veda. Vedanta is fully known by God only. Therefore, God is ‘Sarvajna’ (He who knows everything.).

God created ignorance which is Maayaa and He was covered by this Maayaa with His own will. He enjoys by seeing this world which is nothing but just His ideas only. If Maayaa is removed the world disappears and the pure God alone remains. Then the pure God knows Himself without any ignorance. Therefore, any person cannot know this pure God because the person disappears with the world. Veda says “Brahmavit Brahma...”. This means that God alone knows God. The Gita also says same thing “Māṃ tu veda na kaścana” which means that nobody knows God. Therefore, you cannot directly experience God and His three properties directly from God. When you yourself do not exist how can you experience God and His qualities? When there is no experience, the real knowledge cannot be attained. Simply by knowing that God possesses the knowledge of Himself, which is called ‘Prajnanam’ by the Veda, it is not sufficient. Did you hear the Prajnanam from God? You have not understood anything simply by hearing the word ‘Prajnanam’. If you have heard the word Mathematics, do you know all the mathematics? So you must hear that special knowledge from God and get bliss and then love God through your service and then God should love you. Then you have experienced the God and now you have the real knowledge of God, which is called Brahma Jnanam. Already we have told that it is impossible to attain the special knowledge directly from God because you yourself cannot exist in that situation.

What is the solution for this problem? God must enter the world secretly and should give you the special knowledge. If God is exhibited the world disappears. Therefore, God enters a human body, which is a product of His Maya only. His entrance is also a Maayaa. Now He is hidden in that human body to maintain the existence of you and the world. Now He gives you the special knowledge through that human body. That special knowledge will also be given in such a dosage, which can only be received by you. If the dosage is more you will vanish. Now you are getting the special knowledge directly from God and the human body is only a medium. God is pervading that human body from top to bottom, internally and externally. The Veda says this (Antar bahiśca).

Now by the experience you have attained the full Brahma Jnanam. There is no other way than this. If you want to see the God by these two eyes it is impossible because if God appears you will disappear along with this world. God can be seen only by the third eye which is the eye of Knowledge, that too if God’s grace is there. You cannot see God. You cannot touch God. You cannot talk with God. You cannot live with God. So, what is the use of such vision? Vision is useless unless you attain the God’s grace. Grace is more important than vision. God gave His vision to Arjuna as well as to the blind king Dhritarashtra. Dhritarashtra was not blessed. Radha and Hanuman were never given such vision. But both attained the highest fruit. When Arjuna saw that vision he shivered and prayed God to come back to the form of human body. Arjuna was the bravest man in the world. He also worshipped Narayana (God) as Nara continuously for the past thousand births. He also saw God through the third eye only and with the grace of God. If such Arjuna shivered what will be case of ordinary human beings? They will simply vaporize before the power of God. If you receive Knowledge, Bliss and Love of God and if you love God through your service you will be really blessed. You can experience these three qualities only through human incarnation.

Some people claim themselves as human incarnations by telling that they have infinite bliss and love. They do not possess the knowledge, which is supported by the Veda, the Shaastra and logic. Even if they speak the knowledge, they cannot quote the scriptures and cannot give the correct logic. Such people are only fraud incarnations because the knowledge cannot be separated from bliss and love. The light of the Sun cannot be separated from the heat. Both light and heat always co-exist. If you neglect Krishna how can you get the special knowledge in the form of the Bhagavadgita? If you neglect the divine form Brahma deva how can you get the Vedas? Sages have heard Vedas from the four faces of Brahma Deva. Sages are sitting near Brahma Deva and are attaining the special knowledge, which is called Vedanta, and are immersed in the infinite bliss and love.

Buddha who is one of the ten incarnations of God Narayana told that the Vedas are “Paurusheyas’ which means that Vedas are spoken by a form i.e., Brahma Deva. But some have condemned Buddha saying that Vedas came directly from God. Yes. The Vedas were told by God but not directly. God pervades all the divine body of Brahma Deva and through that body the Vedas were told to the sages.

Krishna told in the Gita that foolish people insult the medium, which is the human body because of their jealousy and egoism (Avajānanti). The Veda says “Vedāhametam” which means that ‘I have recognized the human incarnation who throws away the ignorance darkness and is shining by the special knowledge like a Sun’. The Veda further says “Tamevaṃ vidvān” which means that he who recognizes such human incarnation becomes liberated in this world itself (Jiivanmukta). The Veda further says ‘Nānyaḥ panthāḥ…’ which means that there is no other way to experience God than through the human incarnation.
