Blessing a Devotee with a Good Job
Those were the days when we stayed in Hyderabad. All our children were settled in jobs. We have the worry that our third son, Ch. Ramana, could not get a good job. Swami was already acting as a devotee of Lord Datta in our house. My wife, Swami and I went to Srisailam. We were made to worship Mallikarjuna Swami and perform abhisheka, made to perform kumkum pooja at the temple of Mother Bhramaramba, asked to sit down near the Goddesses Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. Swami gave us Datta Mantra and made to recite the Shri Suktam. Swami said that all these worships are being done to develop devotion towards Lord Datta in us without aspiring any fruit in return.
And Swami said, “The worry that your son, Ramana, has not got a good job is causing agony inside you. Okay, I will give a good job to your Ramana, will you completely involve in My service?” asked Swami. “What more do we want than that? Swami! We will certainly turn towards you. We said we have no other desires.” Aha! See what a miracle! Is it not Swami's grace that within a month our Ramana got a job at Jana Chaitanya Housing Ltd., and was promoted to Deputy General Manager? It is also the grace of Swami that we reached Vijayawada without any worries, served Swami and spent the rest of our lives worshipping Swami in the Datta Mandir.
My son and daughter-in-law used to serve Swami very well when He was in Hyderabad. Swami used to call Ramana as ‘Taatya’. One day, Ramana’s son, Ramakrishna, was suffering from a severe fever and his body was burning with a high temperature. My daughter-in-law, Smt. Sujatha, was crying in agony. Swami, who was sleeping in the front hall, got up, went and applied Vibhuti to the child. That was it! His fever subsided. He became completely healthy.
In those days, Swami used to behave as devotee and so prayed to God. These days, He is acting as Lord Datta and as the giver of fruits. This difference is not in Swami. This difference is in our viewing angle. If we consider Him as a devotee, He will be like a devotee. If we consider Him as Lord Datta, He will be Lord Datta. Moreover, Swami says, "I will act like a cheat to those who consider Me a cheater." Is it not that ‘as is the belief, so is the fruit’ (Yadbhāvaṃ tadbhavati)?
