Protecting a Hanuman Devotee from a Danger
In the beginning of the year 1999, when Shri Koneru Satyanarayana's father was admitted to the hospital in Hyderabad with a heart stroke, Shri Satyanarayana prayed to Swami to save his father. On that occasion, Swami spent three days in our house chanting the Mrutyunjaya mantra. Later, Sri Lakshmaiah returned home with a complete recovery. Shri Satyanarayana expressed his gratitude to Swami.
After a few years, Shri Lakshmaiah fell ill again. One day, in the evening, Swami said to His colleague – “Shri Lakshmaiah’s (life) file has been signed.” The next morning, Lakshmaiah passed away. “He was a devotee of Hanuman and therefore attained good fortune,” Swami told to us. A devotee asked Swami, “When Swami Himself is Mrutyunjaya (Lord Shiva), why did Swami perform the Mrutyunjaya mantra?” Swami answered – “If you consider Me a devotee, I will pray to God for you. If you think of Me as Datta, I will do that work Myself. To the extent you thought of Me, I am up to that only! Ye yathā māṃ prapadyante”, says the Gita and after saying this, Swami sang like this. “I am the devotee; I am Datta! I alone manifest as per your, your feelings.”
