[Mr. Kenan from Syria asked:- Please can I ask our dearest Avatar about the difference between The Dalai Lama and Sathya Sai Baba. What is the difference between incarnation and Avatar?]
Swami replied:- Shri Dalai Lama is the divine messenger and Shri Satya Sai Baba is divine incarnation of God in a different external human form. A great political leader sent his message through a tape recorder, which is to be played in a meeting. The tape recorder is the messenger revealing the message of God as it is. This is the picture of Shri Dalai Lama, who is a divine messenger. Shri Satya Sai Baba is God Himself coming in a different external dress (medium) and speaking the same message directly. This is the picture of the divine incarnation of God called Shri Satya Sai Baba. From the point of the message of God, there is no difference between the messenger and incarnation of God. But, the additional advantage with the divine incarnation is that if you require any additional clarification in the spiritual knowledge, the incarnation can clarify elaborately since He is the author of the entire spiritual knowledge. In the case of a messenger, the additional information required by you and given by Him may rarely become wrong because the clarification is given by the brain of the messenger. People are highly egoistic and jealous. Hence, they tolerate a co-human being as messenger of God.

The incarnation is called Son of God and the Son of God as well as the Father-God are one and the same. The Father is energetic incarnation called Datta and the Son is human incarnation. Maximum limit of tolerance of any human being is up to the messenger of God. Beyond this, if somebody is called as Son of God, they cannot tolerate and crucify Him. Jesus being the Son of God and being the Father-God, generally claimed Himself as messenger of God only in view of the ego-based jealousy of the public. But, when He found some deserving devotees of high spiritual level, He declared Himself as Son of God and God Himself. This information of His higher (Son of God) and highest (God-Father) levels reached the general public also that lead to His crucifixion. Prophet Mohammed is also an incarnation of God, but, eradicated this concept and established Himself as messenger only so that the incarnation is never misunderstood by the public. But, the present atmosphere has changed now and there is no such danger for incarnations and hence, Shri Satya Sai Baba declared Himself as human incarnation of God. Avatāra is the meaning of the word incarnation. It is just true translation from Sanskrit (Avatāra) into English (incarnation).
