Is it right to pay taxes to a corrupt government?

Posted on: 17/07/2019

Shri Anil asked: Some people try to avoid paying tax to the government because they feel that, by paying tax, their hard-earned money is going into the pockets of corrupt government officials and is not actually reaching the needy. Could You kindly give Your opinion on this?

Swami replied: If you find an opportunity to not pay tax or minimize paying tax, you can use that saved money for feeding beggars and the poor. But you should also note that there are some good officers in the government, who are not interested in corruption. The best way is to pay tax to the government and also propagate true spiritual knowledge in the world. The propagation of spiritual knowledge will ultimately eradicate corruption...

REVIVAL OF DIVINE KNOWLEDGE-THE IMMEDIATE NEED

Posted on: 02/06/2012

The over attachment to worldly bonds is the source of sin. Every human being exists in this stage of over attachment to world. Pravrutti is the reduction of this over attachment so that limited proper attachment to the worldly bonds is reached and thereby, the balance of this society is achieved. Over attachment to worldly bonds is injustice and pravrutti is the justice. Nivrutti is total detachment from these worldly bonds so that total attachment to God results. The human being is inherently associated with the characteristic of attachment...

REJUVENATION OF THE EDUCATION SYSTEM

Posted on: 10/06/2012

The modern world thinks that the ancient people have wasted lot of time in the analysis about the unimaginable God. This is the first foolishness because these people do not know that the realization of the existence of God in the mind of a citizen is directly linked to the resistance towards crime and corruption that establish the peaceful social balance. The concept of God is the tremendous basis of the self control of every human being to reject crime and corruption in the society...

SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT MUST NOT HARM THE ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH

Posted on: 26/06/2012

The development of any limb of a human being is desirable as it grows from the childhood onwards. But, the growth of any limb should be within the proper limits. The growth of the finger should not be equal to the growth of the leg. Similarly, the development of science should not cross the proper limits so that there is no harm to the global environment and the health of humanity. In ancient India, sages also developed sciences. But, the sages were strong devotees of God and hence, the development of the research in science and technology did not cross the limits of danger by the grace of God...

MODERN UNIVERSITY GRADUATES DO NOT KNOW THE SUBJECT OF GOD

Posted on: 05/06/2012

In ancient times, the total education was concentrated on the establishment of the existence of God, heaven and hell. If justice is followed, God rewards you with heaven and if injustice is done, God punishes you in  hell. If you say that God exists, people may not believe and may commit sins by which the balance of the society gets disturbed. The existence of God is to be proved through very deep logical analysis and discussions. All the seminars and conferences in ancient India ran on single subject, which is about the existence...

Scriptural Authority for the Cancellation of Sins

Posted on: 09/01/2019

Shri Kishore Ram asked: Is there authority from the scripture regarding the cancellation of pending punishments by reformation, especially in this Kali Age? Some of my friends are asking for scriptural authority on this point.

Swami replied: This concept is based on logic and hence, it is valid in any age because the logic of the concept is beyond time. The logic is as follows. The meaning of reformation is that the soul passes through realization, repentance and finally non-repetition of the sin in practice. What is the aim of the punishment for sin? It is not revenge or tit for tat! It is only to create fear in the mind of the soul so that the soul does not repeat the sin...

Career Choice And Worldly Happiness

Posted on: 11/04/2019

Following is a conversation between Swamiji and some devotees where Swamiji clarifies the questions posed by the devotees related to choosing one’s career and worldly life.

Shri Bharath: Padanamaskaram Swamiji! I am Bharath from Amrita School of Engineering. My question is related to Pravrutti. Swamiji, I am going to finish MTech in two months and I have to find a Job. It has always been my desire to work in Aerospace Industry. By your grace I have confidence in myself that I will be able to become good engineer. But the problem is I don't want to work for that industry...

Is it ok to work for such companies who are responsible for causing unsustainability in the world?...

Swami: If you do not work, somebody else will work in your place considering the present rate of unemployment. So, even if you do not work, it will not serve any purpose. If you want to achieve your aim of a sustainable world, propagate the spiritual knowledge related to this point and impress it on the minds of the people. The problem is that nobody is worried about the welfare of society...

EDUCATION IN ANCIENT INDIA STRESSED MORE ON ETHICS THAN PROFESSION

Posted on: 27/05/2012

The case of the present politicians, officials, contractors, businessmen etc., can be compared to the case of Kuchela as far as the sin is concerned. You cannot compare Kuchela with these people as far as the nature of the soul is concerned. Regarding the nature of the sin, the comparison is that all these people snatch away the wealth of others in spite of their stabilized life. God has given you sufficient wealth to maintain your health. But, you steal others wealth in doing the corruption, which develops tension that spoils your health...

GOD'S POWER IS SUFFICIENT TO CONTROL EVIL FORCES

Posted on: 17/11/2013

[Kartika Purnima Message: Shri Swami attended a function in the house of a devotee, Shri Pavan, since today is the festival of Kartika Purnima. The Shiva Lingam, which is a stone in the form of a wave, is worshipped and behind it, a photo of Lord Shiva is placed. On the other side, there is a big shrine of Shri Satya Sai Baba and Swami also sat facing this shrine.]

Shri Swami: The Shiva Lingam is in the form of a wave indicating the energy since energy propagates as waves. The material of this Shiva Lingam is matter. Thus, Shiva Lingam denotes the medium in two forms 1) Energy and 2) Matter...

SALVATION IS SPONTANEOUS IF JUSTICE CONTROLS MONEY AND SEX

Pravrutti is the subject related to your behavior, duties and actions towards the creation of God. Nivrutti is the subject related to your personal relationship with the Creator of this creation. Both subjects are equally important and are deeply inter-related. To understand the above concept, let us take an example in which you...

PRAVRUTTI IS MINIMIZATION OF INTENSITIES OF WORLDLY BONDS

Posted on: 31/07/2015

[Guru Pournima Day 2nd Message] Guru Pournima indicates the full moon destroying the darkness-ignorance through full moonlight-knowledge. The knowledge involves two parts: 1) Pravrutti or teaching the discipline and 2) Nivrutti or teaching the main subject. The headmaster (or principal) of school (or college) concentrates more on the discipline than the subject. Of course, he clarifies the doubts of even the teachers...

PRAVRUTTI AND NIVRUTTI ARE TWO PARTS OF ONE PATH

Posted on: 05/08/2015

Shri Phani asked Shri Swami to explain more about the necessity of pravrutti or path of justice as pre-requisite for entering Nivrutti or spiritual life.

Shri Swami replied: It is incomplete understanding about Pravrutti to think that Pravrutti is one field of subject and Nivrutti is another field of subject. People think that Pravrutti is related to the balance of the society, which pleases God because God is the administrator of the society created by Him. According to them, Nivrutti is totally different, which is confined to the bond with God...

NIVRUTTI ALWAYS DISCOURAGED BY GOD

Posted on: 17/11/2015

Padanamaskaram Swami, Kindly enlighten us with Your answer for the following query from Shri Kishore ram:

Dear DattaSwami: I came to know about you in early 2008 and I dont know if its my inner consciousness or great fortune to started believing you as the True Incarnation of the unimaginable God. But I somehow deviating from this path though I trust you and more of your divine knowledge. Not only that, I am not able to be good enough in Worldly life as well (Pravrutti).

Can you advise me whats my problem thats hindering or stopping me from leading a righteous life in this world(Pravrutti)? Unless I concentrate and do the things in right way in Pravrutti, I know I cant be eligible for Nivrutti. I am failing in the base step itself(Pravrutti)

At Your feet,-Anil

Shri Swami Replied: Pravrutti (your behaviour towards other human beings in this world) is the most important topic of concentration for God. Infact, He says that He comes down in the human form for the sake of establishing justice in pravrutti only (Dharma Samsthapanarthaaya- Gita). In the boyhood, the Lord finished the issue of Nivrutti...

SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE AND SPIRITUAL EFFORTS WASTE IF DEVOTEE IS CORRUPT

Posted on: 25/11/2015

[Evening Message] Shri Kishore Ram asked: Please explain the significance of the special rules followed by the devotees of Ayappa before reaching His shrine.

Shri Swami replied: The discipline to be attained by following the rules is very important in the spiritual path. The external body and the food habits should be disciplined by certain hard rules. The health of the body affects the nature of mind. The internal mind is the most important instrument to please God. The external bath of the body by cold water in the morning gives resistance to cold resulting in perfect immunity...

ANCIENT RULERS KEPT RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY ON TOP MOST LEVEL OF EDUCATION AND ADMINISTRATION

Posted on: 02/12/2015

Shri Ajay asked: What is the way out to resist this corruption for money, which is spread almost every area of this world?

Shri Swami replied: The reason for the disease must be known so that the treatment is at the level of the reason but not at the level of the effect. The present doctors treat the disease based on the symptoms and therefore, such treatment is only temporary. In Ayurveda, the treatment is at the level of the cause of the disease, which is called as ‘Nidaanam’. The root cause of all these diseases...

HORRIFIC CONSEQUENCES OF CORRUPTION AND ITS FUNDAMENTAL SOLUTION

Posted on: 28/12/2015

Shri Ajay:Today corruption has affected every walk of life. Corrupt people include politicians, officials, businessmen, doctors, teachers and even judges! What will be the fate of such souls?

Shri Swami: The money of the public is the wealth of the public, and it should be spent for the public alone, giving priority to the poor. Public money is very sacred and should not be enjoyed personally by any (well-to-do) person, unless he or she is extremely poor and is dying for want of food. In order to save one’s life, one might be forced to commit a sin...

Devotion Means Sacrifice of One's Own Money and Not Government's Money Secretly

Dr Annapurna, Professor, asked: “Lord Rama did not respond to the severe suffering of the greatest devotee, Ramadas, given to him by the king Taanishaa through punishment for constructing the temple of Rama. How to accept the kindness and justice of Rama?”

Swami replied: You have used two words: kindness and justice, which can’t go together like water and fire. The human incarnation of Rama was purely for Pravrutti of the humanity. He left even His dearest wife, Sita for the sake of justice in the administration of a ruler. A ruler should take care of the comments of every citizen...

SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE SOLVES CORRUPTION

Posted on: 15/08/2008

Today our country is facing a very serious problem. The poor man does not receive the fruits of the schemes implemented by the Government, so the poor are becoming poorer day by day. This is the reason of the unrest and tension in the minds of majority of the public since the majority is poor. Every political party, which is voted to power, tries to serve the poor by implementing good schemes. But, the fruits of every scheme are filtered by a screen called corruption. The authorities involved in the implementation of the schemes snatch away the fruits, so the rich become richer day by day. All the wealth is concentrated with the minority of the public, which is involved in the implementation process. Sometimes, even the Government...
