श्रीवराहावताराष्टकम्
[Eight Verses on the Divine Pig-Incarnation of God Vishnu]

ॐ नमो नारायणाय । ॐ नमो विष्णवे ।

[Salutations to God Narayana, Who is God Vishnu]

हिरण्याक्ष पादाभिघातभ्रमद्भू-नभः कन्दुकं दंष्ट्रया धारयन्तम्‌ ।
धरादेवता वल्लभाक्रन्दनात्तं, भजे नाथ नारायणं श्रीवराहम्‌ ॥1॥

[The planet Earth was flying like a ball in the space due to the hit given by the foot of the demon called Hiranyaaksha. You incarnated as Lord Varaaha (Divine Pig form) and made Your two protruding fangs as support to the Earth, which was falling down. The deity of the Earth, Your wife, cried for Your help and You reacted like this. I worship such Lord Narayana, who is in the form of Divine Pig.]

समाकृष्य दैत्यं महोग्राहवान्ते, त्रिधा दारयन्तं स्वदंष्ट्राद्वयेन ।
पदेनोत्क्षिपन्तं प्रतीकारशान्तं, भजे नाथ नारायणं श्रीवराहम्‌ ॥2॥

[After a serious war with the demon, You caught the demon and tore him into three pieces with Your two fangs. You kicked the three pieces of the demon with Your foot and then became peaceful. I worship such Lord Narayana, who is in the form of Divine Pig.]

मुहुर्घुर्घुरुध्वान तीव्रोग्ररोष-भ्रमावेशपादाभिघातैर् नटन्तम्‌ ।
जगद् भ्रामयन्तं स्फुरत्ताम्रनेत्रं, भजे नाथ नारायणं श्रीवराहम्‌ ॥3॥

[You were giving violent sounds like ghur, ghur, ghur…, dancing with the violent hits of Your two feet, possessing very serious anger due to which the world was shaking in different directions. Your eyes were burning with red flames. I worship such Lord Narayana, who is in the form of Divine Pig.]

नभो मेघनीलं त्रिपुण्ड्राङ्कफालं, गदाशङ्खचक्राभयं पाणिपद्मैः ।
श्रियोरस्स्थले दंष्ट्रिकायां पृथिव्या, भजे नाथ नारायणं श्रीवराहम्‌ ॥4॥

[You were black like the rainy sky, wearing the three vertical lines as the mark on Your forehead. You were holding huge mace, conch-shell, revolving wheel and sign of protection with Your lotus-flower-like four hands. You were possessing Goddess Lakshmi on Your chest and earth on Your fangs. I worship such Lord Narayana, who is in the form of Divine Pig.]

सदा स्वर्णदृष्टिं हिरण्याक्षमेव, भुवं क्षोभयन्तं स्वपापेन जीवम्‌ ।
स्वविज्ञानदंष्ट्राहतं मोचयन्तं, भजे नाथ नारायणं श्रीवराहम्‌ ॥5॥

[The word ‘Hiranyaaksha’ means a soul, who is always fascinated towards gold or wealth, due to whose sinful deeds the world always suffers. You have killed such a demon, the embodiment of greediness, by Your white, radiating fangs, which represent the brilliant spiritual knowledge. I worship such Lord Narayana, who is in the form of Divine Pig.]

दयार्द्रावलोकेन भक्तिप्रसन्नं, शनैश्चालयन्तं स्वतुण्डं विलम्बि ।
पदालम्बिने दत्त हस्तावलम्बं, भजे नाथ नारायणं श्रीवराहम्‌ ॥6॥

[You were looking at Your devotees with kind and wet eyes. You were slightly moving Your snout (protruding mouth), which is facing downwards. To the devotees, who catch Your divine feet, You give protection with Your hand. I worship such Lord Narayana, who is in the form of Divine Pig.]

अविज्ञानमृत्पिण्ड भूबिम्बकल्पं, हिरण्याक्षलोभासुरेणाति विद्धम्‌ ।
पतन्तं च मामुद्धरन्तं स्वभक्तं, भजे नाथ नारायणं श्रीवराहम्‌ ॥7॥

[I am like a ball of clay with dull brain. I am hit by the demon called Hiranyaaksha (who always has his eyes fixed on gold or wealth only). Since I am Your devotee, even though I am falling down, You have caught Me and uplifted Me. I worship such Lord Narayana, who is in the form of Divine Pig.]

अवामाङ्क मारोप्य वामाङ्घ्रिपद्मं, प्रियां देवतां वाममङ्कं च पद्माम्‌ ।
सुरै स्स्तूयमानं सुखासीनमेनं, भजे नाथ नारायणं श्रीवराहम्‌ ॥8॥

[You have placed Your lotus flower-like left foot on the right thigh. You have also made Your wife, Goddess Lakshmi, to sit on Your left thigh. You are sitting on the throne with immense pleasure while the angels are singing Your fame. I worship such Lord Narayana, who is in the form of Divine Pig.]

श्रीवराहावतारस्य दिव्याष्टकमिदं पठन् ।
काश्यपेन कृतं कृच्छ्रा दुद्धृतो न पतत्यधः ॥

[The devotee, who reads this divine prayer of God Shri Varaaha Swami written by Shri Datta Swami, who is born in the Kaashyapa gotra, will be lifted up from difficulties immediately and will not fall into difficulties again.]
